Did anyone else notice that with the introduction of XSAN 2 the X RAID product line disappeared from the Apple website? It was there a week ago. Searching the Apple site turns up a link to www.promise.com, a third party provider. At least XSAN 2 supports third party drives where the original did not.
Since Apple has always been way behind (still using 2Gbit fibre and 750 GB drives when everyone else is using 4Gb FC and 1 TB drives) with outrageous pricing, we standardized on G-Tech G-Speed XL 16TB drives with MetaSan for SAN software (64 TB total). I guess we will look at XSAN 2 and see if it really will work (supported) with our G-Tech's.
Someone know what is going on here and what Apple is thinking? Hopefully this does not substantiate the rumors that FCP is being sold off by Apple (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8667), since we are totally committed to FCP and Color at this point. Of course they did announce new iPod Nano pricing under $50, so pro's should not worry.
On the good news front our RED #612 did arrive last week...
