  1. #1 Red = Magenta ?
I am sure I have read it somewhere but I could not find an answer; I was side by side shooting to test my red compared to SD Digibeta and some bright red colors in the set turned up magenta. My post guy (Scratch) told me as well that he saw the same magenta hue on a test shot I did on the time code slate from the bright red numbers, so I guess it is not only my preview/redcine. I am shooting build 13. Is this something in camera ? (My lightcrew asked if they could move my "PINK 1" instead of "RED1" in the set so it was pretty obvious....) Probably fixable in CC, but unsure what to tell client/director in this case.

    Cheers

Well i have seen something similar but it was in the 709 output not a camera matter, more a realy easy to resolve correccion with tint for the output and client/director relaxed.

The 709 output is definitely magenta. Put an infrared remote control up to the lens and what do you see? Purple. On an HPX500 it shows up as red, but on the Red it was purple (and on the HVX200 it was invisible... follow all that?) :) So the live outputs of the Red do bias towards purple when in neutral settings.

But, it's largely irrelevant because the live output has little to nothing to do with how your final footage is going to turn out.

Until your client's client peers at the monitor and freaks out because their red corporate logo is a pretty burgandy hue. :-)

Some thoughts on what possibly could cause this:

Fantastic link there Mike. With no NDs in camera, this is something all Red shooters are going to need to be aware of.
