Still having problems with playback. Sometimes it plays near realtime, and others it is stuttering or slow. This happens randomly and with the same clips. I can't figure out what may be causing it.

    Anyone else have this?

    Mac Book Pro
    OSX 10.4.1
    QT 7.3
    REDCINE 1.0.4

Redcine certainly seems to be improving with each new version. However, one major issue which still has not been resolved is the frame-rate one. Not only does it show all clips from 25 or 29.97 fps projects as being 24 fps in the meta-data, but more importantly it reads the timecode as if it was 24 fps. This means the timecode is correct on the first frame of the clip, but rapidly slips out of sync, and you end up rendering out 30fps QuickTimes with 24 fps timecode for example. Red Alert does not do this, so is the only solution for non 24 fps projects. However this obviously means 4k 16x9 is not available.

This is a serious issue which needs to be fixed as a matter of urgency.

If I am missing something, and there is a way of getting this to work properly, can somebody please let me know!

    Nick,

While this is investigated, there is a quite easy workaround.

In the Library, click on the bottom third of a clip. This pulls up a metadata window for the clip. Change the framerate to 25. Now go back to the Player and scrub source timecode, and you will see it count from :00 to :24.

Now go back and change that framerate to 24. Player will now count from :00 to :23.

    Best,

    Lucas

Thanks Lucas. Just tried it, and it does indeed work perfectly! Much appreciated.

Thank you Lucas - this also solved my dpx export problem. The question remains why does it show the wrong framerate in the r3d metadata

Previous build was 82 and worked fine. Installed build 90 and redcine not working. Reinstated 82 and it didn't work either :(

Deleted previous /library/redcine folder and redcine application.
Unzipped and copied redcine from the .dmg to /applications.
Redcine creates all the relevant folders in /library but then doesn't load. It shows on the menu bar but I get no load screen or anything...
    Log looks like it's loaded.

What am I doing wrong? Help!

    Brenton.

    OSX 10.4.11
    2x 3Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon

did you try to download again, sometimes this helps....erase all of your folders before installing, if redcine doesnt create the redcine folder in the library, create it manualy, if it creates you know erase it. if you saved your redcine .rcn files move them to another place.

If I move the 4k clip further back into the sequence, say after 4 or 5 3k clips, all 3k clips render fine, and the 4k again crashes.

This occurs regardless of codec, project size, and scaling settings.

    Any ideas?

    QT 7.3.1 of course

This is a known issue and I've been suggesting as a work around not mixing different resolution footage in a timeline, this usually fixes it when i run into this issue. I also have had this happen when I mix overcranked footage into the timeline so I would suggest just keeping like media in your Redcine timeline.
