  1. #1 Has anyone actually played back the "H" proxy in RT?
So I just got a 3.0Ghz 8 core Mac Daddy thinking finally I'll be able to cut the 2K QT proxy files as an offline.. but no, even with all this horsepower no dice, it still judders. Adding insult to injury I can't even playback the "M" proxy without some drops. So what's the deal here, is it the video card? I went with the ATI for the time being, until I know the Nvidia driver issues are worked out. I downgraded QT to 7.3.1, I'm playing the material off a 3G E-SATA drive? I've got like 10GB of RAM too. What will it take to playback the 2K proxy in real time?

Everything "RED" and speedintensive sped up significantly here when I pulled out the 2x 1gb stock RAM.

Not saying you can playback the files then, but it's worth a try.

I saw _H proxies in a 2K timeline playing full rate yesterday at Plaster City on an 8 core, but I'm not sure what the timeline quality was set to. It looked much better than "Low" on my machine.

I'm also unclear if the Kona 3 (which was doing scaling to 1920) had a part. Are you trying to push out Decklink/Kona at the same time Evin?

Nope. In fact I can't even playback the "P" proxy in RT! Something is definitely not right here. My Macbook Pro can play back the "M" smooth if HQ is turned off in QT.

Redcine allows me to playback RT at 1/2 Res Medium and almost makes it to 1/2 Rez high.

    Hi Nate,

What we showed at Plaster City was native 4K .r3d files played from Scratch @ 2K/high off of a BOXX prototype system. We were able to show realtime, frame accurate 1080p 4/4/4 RGB @ 1080P layoff to HDCAM SR. I guess you could go out to a 2K-D5 deck or 2K projector all the same...

At this point, there is no direct support for playing RED footage out via KONA, AJA, Blackmagic, Matrox or Bluefish in RedCine or Scratch.

The only SDI output supported for now is via Quadro 4600SDI/5600SDI - and you will need Scratch for this.

We've got the 2K "H" playing at solid 24fps to a Sony BVM using Kona3 on a 4-core machine with FCP. Maybe it's the altitude here in Colorado?

Actually, Adam, I was in a FCP suite with Michael :)

I didn't get to see any Scratch while I was there.

Paulee, what kind of timeline? 1080p ProRes, or 2K ProRes?
