Thx a lot for your great work!!
Was wondering: did you also do a comparison of Dragon versus MX format sizes?
Does MX 5K roughly correspond to Dragon 6K, i.e.?
    Scarlet Dragon #075 "Arletty"
    RPZ 17-50mm
    Angenieux 35-140mm T3.5
    Hawk Vantage 14mm T2

    MX 5K is 27.7mm x 14.6mm. Dragon 6K is 30.7mm x 15.8mm, wider FOV.

I'd be interested to know which of the following 2K resolutions will be present with the Dragon sensor, if Super 16 lenses can cover those resolutions and framerate:

    - 2880x1620
    - 2560x1440
    - 2048x1152

Hopefully more info will come in soon!

Thanks Phil, for gathering all the info thus far!!

Just returned from NAB and shooting Coachella. Now that we are getting more "hard info" in I can start pushing out more graphics. This update is focused on Red Dragon image plane size and lens coverage for Epic and Scarlet Dragon. Useful for those making lens purchase decisions and likely useful for any lens rental house. It also addresses some of the questions above.

    ** Updated 4/15/2013

    - added Red Dragon: Crop Factors, Dimensions, and Diagonals graphic

Red Dragon: Crop Factors, Dimensions, and Diagonals

Above is a graphic showcasing the image plane and diagonal coverage of Epic Dragon as well as Scarlet Dragon. Notable here is that Red Dragon 5K is very close to S35 3-perf coverage (as seen in Red Dragon and Film Formats graphic above). It has been mentioned at NAB 2013 that Dragon may have the capability to dial in custom resolutions. Additionally on this graphic, for those who have lenses that cover Mysterium-X at 5K Full, you can see that Dragon "5.5K" provides the same sized image plane while providing higher capture resolution.

More on the way very soon.

Absolutely. Use it for whatever you want. Just don't sell these or I'll put up the bat signal :)

Also, I'm making all of these graphics in 6K. When we get more info together I'll upload some high resolution versions to print out.

Word 'on the street' at the red booth is that Dragon wouldn't have any faster reset speeds than Epic-MX. If you wanted improved shutter you would have to go for the motion mount.
