Is the battery plate on the RED Cradle and/or Quickplate removable? and thus mountable without the Cage/plate, or will I need to order a Quickplate/Battery Plate seperate?
i've removed the batt plate off the quick plate ( 6 bolts hold it on)...
the batt plate on craddle appears to be the same (unscrew the 6 bolts) i just haven't removed it ...
i'm not sure how you would mount the batt plate it once it is off .... but i'm sure one could come up with something .
I turned a batt plate into an articulating quickplate with a spare Redarm I had... tapped and threaded the 6 screw holes a little bigger and drilled a hole and tapped that 1/4-20
I took apart my cradle the other day and found that one of the wires had been smushed flat when they put it together. Everything still works so I guess it is fine. However, I want to be able to use the battery plate without the cradle. I can't get the back of the battery plate to stay on since it has no screw threads. The screw threads are on the cradle. Do they make a locking nut I can buy for the small screws that screw the battery plate to the cradle?
Buy the Replacement Battery plate from Red, then get the Battery back from Element Technica that has about a million mounting options. I mount the Battery plate to a Universal mount so its very compact for Steadicam work
Also, the plate from Red doesn't have any threads in the mounting plate... YOU will need the ET Battery back to use the Battery plate on Something else... Because Red's plate is supposed to screw into the Cradle or Quickplate mount.
I just ordered one of these...
