    The pro's and cons are explained quite thoroughly in Brook's FAQ;

    Compact Flash - Most used and reliable option to date. Perfect when a lightweight rig configuration is desired. Limited record times. We HIGHLY recommend everyone get the CF MODULE. Also, firmware updates are best done via CF. Available now.

    RED DRIVE (RAID) - Should be used with smooth camera operation as sudden jolting or jerky movements could result in a dropped frame. Cost-effective with long record times. Available now.

    RED FLASH DRIVE - Solid state so little chance of dropped frames. Longer record times than CF but not as lightweight of an option. Available soon.

    Hope that helps,
    BC

    I trust these drives will be made available with the bigger SSD options currently available, so 2 x 128GB SSD (RAID) configuration as opposed to the 2 x 32GB SSD (RAID) solution currently specified for the RED Flash Drive?

    I personally don't want too much media on any single storage device. 96gb would be cool but 256gb is huge. Especially if there is a price hike to get there. With the standard 320gb raid mags I am intending of only using the first 100gb max.

    3 mags at 96gb seems perfect... Or better still would be a price reduction and stay with 64gb flash mags.

    PS Obviously if the flash option proves to be bullet proof (and salvageable post disaster) then I could learn to trust more..

    PPS I am talking as sombody who has witnesed problems with film mags, drives and even tapes

    In relation to the 320 GB RED Drive currently available I would feel much better with 256GB of SSD (RAID 5 would be nice as well), especially in light of 'dropped frames' being a known issue with the 320GB drive if not handled with 'kid gloves'. I believe SSD's are robust enough to warrant an option bigger than 64GB's.

    As you have eluded to though, and with any computer media, it is always a good idea to backup regularly!
