So probably with out question this is the single largest concern for red consumers. Sure it may be a tough thing for red to face that we customers are bothered by it but does that really mean a red employee should shut it down and lock the thread? This is a very important issue to us and just look at how fast that thread grew and how many viewed it in such a short time. I am sure it was by far the fastest growing workflow thread ever and it gets locked. Locking it just makes no sense to me.

Yes, I agree that many if not most of the RED customers were looking to Apple for post production solutions. We all learn a lot from these discussions. It also eases the anxiety that many users are providing good advice on the subject. The ability to post process our footage on desktop systems is crucial to me on personal projects where I can't afford scratch or a post house to output files for editing.

I was shocked it got locked.. No one was fighting, and the posts were informative.
Why was it locked anyway? Jay |

Maybe upper apple management did not like it so they told red to lock it?

Daren,
Not saying the thread necessarily should have been closed, but let's try to be somewhat tactful in our approach. I'm not pointing the finger at you, but rather all of us. There was some good conversation in the thread, but I think once it gets into conspiracy theories, and perhaps false speculation it might be touching a nerve with a team that is clearly working their tails off to make all of this stuff happen. I think if we keep the discussions civil and merely seek information that seems to be confusing or missing, then the message will carry through better. We can be loud when need be, I think everyone at Red is okay with that, but there's probably a threshold for when it crosses into inflammatory. Just some thoughts, I would never ask you or anyone else to change your approach to match mine. That's why we have the forum, to voice opinions and share information. Steve |

Thats all understood. Actually I do believe there are things in the works for post. When there were a small amount of cameras (mainly beta units) out the surprises and grand reveals were fine. But now that they are shipping a whole bunch of cameras out and want the owners to "go forth and prosper" well the lets hide all the workflow plans till NAB and make it a big surprise is just not cool. We are all running businesses and leaving everyone completely in the dark is very damaging. Some information of what should be purchased and you may want to wait for "X" or you will be covered in this regard would make the difficulty of dealing with this whole new camera a lot easier. Surprises are good for 6 year olds not businesses.

in fact the most viewed thread -ever- on the apple subforum was closed.
(if we can believe the forums sort function.) it was also the one with the most replies. A quite constructive one, imho. I donīt understand at all why a red employee locked this constructive thread which, as it seems, covered exactly the topic at hands - why many red customers think that red could go an even better route if they would use one of their main strenghts - listening to customer need and inputs. i think that the thread should be unlocked. p.s. also noticeable sidenote: laguun -and- assimilate had the same opinion, in the same thread, what in itself is legendary. edited for spelling
