Is the production premium bundle required to import R3D files directly into AE?
I've searched the forums, videos, and readme files extensively, but can't seem to find anyone with my situation. I have AE 9.01 installed, the latest version of the redImporter, but don't have a premierePro install, since we use FCP. I was wanting to do some effects work on my PC directly on the R3D. Edit>Red Settings... shows up, but doesn't launch any windows, and .R3D files are not recognized for import. Any assistance much appreciated. Zach 32 bit XP |

I think R3D should show up in simple "import" menu, but me to, having problem making the R3D show up in this. But in my case is on Mac.
Wonder if there's any conflict in FCP installer and Adobe Importer.

So if I understand correctly, normal behavior should allow direct import into AE, with R3D being a recognized type? Still, I wonder if it requires Prepro install as well.

Zach,
I just realized my problems could be caused by using under Japanese OS, but to your question, yes, AE CS4 9.0.1 works directly with R3D (even presets are provided with separate manual installation). There's also manual script modification required to match the color management. So three steps, installing the REDCODE CS4, manually install the RED setting and modify the AE script.
