I know that NTSC video is shot at 720 by 480 resolution. What does 3K stand for in terms of resolution and will this be recorded in Progressive Scan?

3k would be about 3072 lines across. And yes, progressive.

I'm guessing that it'll be the same aspect ratio of pixels as the red-one (1.77:1(aka 16:9))... which would give it a vertical pixelcount of (3072/1,77= ) 1735... if one would talk "hd-talk" it would be 1735p...
So it'll be 3072*1735 or in still photographers terms 5 329 920 pixels or somewhere around 5 megapixels... in 120 fps (or 180 fps burst)... Just to get the numbers straight I mean... If I'm correct that is... |

What a pity, renders it useless to me for shooting bmx and skate with lots of still sflashes going off and live bands...
