Are there any certain things you might have to take in to account when doing a film print from RED ONE?
Anyone know what pricepoint you would expect for a film-out - 90min from a RED ONE? |

Well it depends from the USA to other countries. Here in India it runs around 30-40k for a film out with color correction. That''s on a nice system too, though the colorists like anywhere are built to taste. I think the best deal I've gotten in the USA is around 75k. (4k prices)
Keep in mind any of these prices are based on personal experience and may be out of date for the USA ones as I'm not based there anymore. It should be noted that film outs have other issues such as print stock, Dolby lic. fee, and the list goes on. I think an entire post run with surround sound mix, lic fee, stock, scan, color, and DI runs about 120k SD here in India to get your first print if you know the right people. In the USA runs about 175-250k if you know the right people. These prices are for a quality job done, with sound design, proper mix, time spent on color and titles...... etc. Now with the red you skip the film scan but are still governed by the color issue as even if you do your own color at 1k in color the job will be ineffective because your LUT is not matched to the lab's scanners LUT. I have found for everything except titles that 2k in more than acceptable for most purposes if you're trying to lower costs. I've done quite a few DI's for features and my suggestion is to get a good post production supervisor because deliverables for distro are truley the bane of most film makers I know. Hope this helped some. Tomas Puig Head Of Technical / Creative Studio One Films Mumbai, India |

You are looking for shops that have either the Arrilaser, Celco or Lasergraphics kinescoping machines. They transfer data to film. They also try to do more than just transfer, so they try to bundle together: assembly, color correction, sweetening, audio, etc. Expect to pay $40K to $50K for a simple & no-problemo job.
