All...
I just received word that my RED is ready to ship. To that end, I have purchased the RED EVF but not the LCD display monitor. For purposes of pulling focus and the like, does anyone know if the Panasonic BT-LH1760 17" Color LCD Production Monitor can be easily hooked up and run as a full display? To alleviate any concerns, I am not under the illusion that the monitor will move with the camera in any type of hand-held setup. I am thinking of using the 17' monitor for dolly shots and lock downs. I have room on the dolly to mount the monitor in close proximity to the camera/focus puller. Any input would be great. Thanks in advance. |

It's ok, I've used it several times with the HD-SDI input. But I don't think it's the best solution for your money out there.
As it's only for preview it's ok but you'll have better solutions for color/luma rendition and for resolution (focus). Patrick |

I would try to investigate in the HDMI port of the camera (is this 1080 or 720p?) and look after an 24' LCD. I didn't google it, nor researched on this forum...
There is some homework to do :-) Patrick |

We've stuck by the Panny 17" off of HD-SDI and never had a problem (as a client monitor). I have read a thread about the HDMI freezing the RED. For a select few its fine and there is no prob, but it seems more have the camera freezing off HDMI than not.
http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthr...highlight=HDMI Something to investigate before you invest. Sorry I can't much give a recommendation, just a tip of the hat to the Panny. |

The 17 is a great monitor to get, make sure you get the newer one though, the older 17 inch doesn't like the 1080 playback from the camera.

Yes this is a great monitor, it goes on every job with me...packs up well, built to travel, and sits on my desktop in home studio for 1080 playback off kona card.
My monitor will not work with 1080 SDI from RED...just 720, looks sharp as a tack though. Is this an issue with the older version...any way to solve this? bummer. |

It may be a true Progressive v's PsF signal issue.
It is a SMPTE spec signal from the camera and I plug into other Panasonic and JVC monitors frequently.

The 1760 works fine. The only catch (if you want to call it that) is that you can't get the menus over HD-SDI.
