Thanks, those are for traveling though. I would only be using the camera in New York City and occasionally in LA. I just want to insure it for normal purposes.

Brandy at DeWitt Stern was great to work with. They have a great deal for Red Owners. The best bang for the buck.
It has been a while since I bought my coverage so Brandy might not be there anymore. So just tell them you own a Red and they should be able to help out. (818) 623-5429 Hope this helps. |

I didn't think DeWitt Stern was still covering equipment as they at some point had sold policies to Heffernan Insurance (https://www.buymyinsurancenow.com). I just got a policy through them and it was just at $1k for $85 worth of gear per year. Plus, if you have a policy with them, rental insurance is fairly cheap--I just got $65k for a week's rental on some Superspeeds and it was $50.

Here's their current contact info from an email I got when they switched over:
Brandy McGrewMy policy is costing me about $500/year for 50K worth of coverage for personally owned an used equipment.

BTW, Heffernan has a new policy for liability where if your are mainly a vendor (aka, more of a rental house going out on other people's shoots), then your liability is cut in more than half. The quote I got for mine was like $775 a year. Pretty good considering everyone else was quoting me $2500+ just for liability.

state farm offers personal property policies
annual premium for the property amount of $30,000.00 for me was $400.00 so for an owner/operator it's a good deal event if I am not on set it's still covered

State Farm was a nightmare for me even though I've been with them for 3 businesses and tons of other policies for 15 years and 3 generations...they needed all kinds of extensive paperwork to insure it. We went elsewhere....
