I have to make the CC (in a very short time) of 6 national commercials shot on red, a dop friend of mine (he did a fiction for disney channel) told me to shoot in 2k because the files are smaller and because it's for tv destination (but he shot "his" fiction in 4k).
I suggested the production to shoot in 4k because I believe 4k is better and also because Red on fcp whitepaper advices not to shoot in 2k for principal photography. I always shoot in 4k and I think also it's better because it's a camera with bayer pattern technology. For commercials usually I use clipfinder-fcp-crimson-redcine-color but I don't have time for this work so I need to stay in fcp and color, I will use clipfinder-fcp-colorfixer-color. The friend of mine also told me that there's problem of dithering and quality in color with r3d files, is it true? |

I would always shoot 4K if you can, it will look much better. I haven't had any problems with the quality of files rendered out of Color using the proxy workflow, everything came out looking great.
