"craigslist Warning" I Was Shot, Tied-up, Beaten-up & Robbed!!!

Hi there,

Tis post is to advise everybody to be extremely carefull wen purchasing/selling items on Graigslist.

Unfortunatelly after many times using craigslist I was a victim of a home invasion.

I obviously know now not to trust anyone.. ever.

But also i fill like a complete Idiot, becaouse I let this guy in to my house, as I did many times before( not the same guy), but this time was the one that I will remember.

I was ordered at Gun point to get on the floor, insted I attaked the gunman tryng desperatelly to take the gun away fom Him, but after a very short fight as He pushed back hard my injured left knee let go and I felt on the floor and He shot me.

He then beaten me up and tied me up then beaten me up some more for unfo, then dragged me in to the closet and robbed me.

fortunatelly I,m here to right about it and fill more of an idiot becouse nott only I let the guy in to my house but I try to get the gun away knoing the my left knee is totally F...Up!

Among many items totally over $70,000.00 He toked:

Canon 1D mark 2n, Ef 15mm fisheye, Sigma 12-24mm, Ef 35mm 1.4L, Ef 50mm 1.2L, Emp 65mm macro, Ef 85mm 1.2L II, Ef 135mm 2.8L, Ef 200mm 2.0L II, Ef 400mm 2.8L, G3 lansebaby set up, 17" Macbook G4.

So this are some of the items easy to sale so be alert if buyng, do not do so with out prove of purchase, and please let be omly me the Idiot to pay the price and do not absolutelly let any one in your home and be carefull wen in public places as I was told that they also take guns there not to pay for the items.

Dude...! I feel very sorry for you! My parents once got robbed and they stoled all my mother's family jewelry that had great sentimental value for her... fortunatly, nobody were there, so no one got hurt!

Hopefully you were insured! It won't help for what you felt, but at least you won't go broke!

Craig's List is fine (though I personally don't like the layout of the site), just don't invite people into your home when you're selling something. Meet up at a mutually convenient location away from home, like at a library or something. Also, if you carry a gun it will help compensate for any knee problems you might have.

Are you allright? You didn't have massive blood loss did you?

I guess you should have just went with eBay.

Yes next time, and not alone and armed, aldo this I'm sure was one of no so many cases, in my house no more!

And yes Craigslist is okay, I used for years, and the CEO in San Francisco was very prompt in returning the phone call of the Detective in charge of the case.

The blood loss was not significant in off to cause further problems, onse He left I was able to croll to one of the phones in the house, help arrived very fast, the problem is that the bullet is still in me, they say is more dangerous to try and taked out then to leave it in.

But thanks for asking I'm okay,
And He did toke quite a bid, over $70,000.00 value of items I just posted some of the lenses to aware any buyers just in case one of the Redusers was to shop for one of this items, never know.

The last time I was robbed was 10 years ago. I had given a stranger a ride near my house a few days before. He saw that I had kept stuff in my truck and came back to rob me. My little Brother (now a police officer) was fourteen and saw my dome light on in my truck at 3am. He went out to make sure the door was shut and met the guy face to face. My brother came into the house looking for the shotgun.

Fortunately for the thief we had shot some coyote's that were in with our live stock the day before, and the shotgun was no longer behind the front door. Otherwise I would have been cleaning cream-of-intruder of the inside of my truck. when he didn't find the gun my brother started screaming. Startled awake I chased the intruder for 1/4 mile in my underwear. He had too much of a head start. The police dogs tracked him back to his drug lab. He was stealing stuff to pay for his supply's for making meth.

I know how it feels to loose your sense of of security, but you got shot on top of that. Don't let it change you too much. Bitterness and total mistrust is a double edged sword.

That is terrible, Ketch! I am so glad you survived though! Hope you get better soon and that that they catch this guy.

You are such a nice guy, it really makes me sick to hear about this happening. Apart from just being shot, is your health otherwise doing okay? I'm sure the whole Reduser community will be thinking about you and hoping you get better soon.

There aren't any special identifying marks / scratches / etc on your lenses or stuff, are there? I know it's a one in a million chance that anyone here will come across your lenses but let us know. Otherwise, we'll all be hoping the police manage to track this guy down.

So sorry that this had to happen in your life. And you are such a good, generous chap - offering to lend Red people stacks of lights, etc... when you decide to shoot something, just let us know what you need, okay? If there's anything I could do, I would do it.
