Since Birger has announced the Nikon mount for AF-S lenses, does it work with the Nikon DX VR 18-200mm too?

That's a great lens. I plan on buying one. Bummer that it's only a 3.5-5.6 F-stop. It'd be nice to use it on the Red.

Should work with the birger, as it is an AF-S lens. I plan on using mine on the RED.

It's a versatile lens and good for travelling light, but it's not a great lens.
Mine seems a bit soft at the long end and the bokeh (out of focus highlights) is uninspiring. If you have never shot with Vibration Reduction, you are in for a treat! I can quite successfully shoot handheld at 1/30th at 200mm. It has really changed the way I shoot. VR would be weird for motion images, though. 5.6 for a cine lens is very slow. It is my understanding that the Birger mount will only support Nikon AF-S lenses. The 18-200 DX VR is not one. |

Depends on the kind of shooting you're doing, of course, but for documentary or more on the fly stuff where you don't have much time for lens changes or setups, I think its versatility and good overall image quality will make it a viable choice. Would I use it for film production? Probably only in limited circumstances.

Sorry, but no this lens will not work on the Red camera. The lens doesn't have a manual aperture control ring. It would be impossible to set the aperture without this function. If the need to set the aperture is of no concern then you're golden.

It would also physically mount properly on a dumb mount, but you would obviously not have control of iris, which would make it pretty useless on those type of mounts.

Ok, smart mount. How does it work? Is the iris control on the mount or in the camera?
