Anyone flying the Epic on a Drone with the HotLink and Foolcontrol?

The range isn't there...hotlink I believe is a little less than 100 feet, unless you have a router, which I think extends it a bit, but nowhere near the range needed for proper camera control for aerial work. I have the redlink, and once you get around 20 feet away, it looses connection.

Hi Chris, have you flown with the HotLink?
My concern is the wifi really screwing up the flight control and the craft crashing.

I believe it runs on different bands...though I'm not 100% certain. Hopefully Mark will chime in.

would be great if someone has flown this and has experience with it as the theory is alway great until it comes crashing down in practice.
Too much at stake to risk it.

I think a guy was flying one yesterday using fool control. Check with Scot Yount.

Fool Control and RTMotion is happening. Not sure what the status is.

The range is not conducive to drones, but typically you are not adjusting settings in the air. However, using Foolctonrol is still practical as you do not want to disturb the drone/gimbal between shots. And most operators want as little down time with as few hands on the camera as possible.

some people (who posted on instagram) are using foolcontrol for drone setups... but I sadly have never tested hotlink / REDLink myself with a flying EPIC.
I know range can be an issue if flying far away so you'd loose connection until the drone is back in range... router and bigger antennas will certainly help but better ask a drone/radio expert about potential wifi 2.4 GHZ interferences...

Kris from RTmotion is indeed working on a 1km radio solution for foolcontrol but it is not yet available unfortunately...
