Known about the basics of this for a bit, but generally this has been designed to compete squarely with the Alexa and perhaps the F55 as well.

What is interesting is it has the ability to record 4.5K and supports anamorphic, both firsts for Canon.

Canon also has an anamorphic zoom lens on the horizon. A 37.5-100mm T3.3.

Looking at it compared to say RED's DSMC2 models where we have much of these features in 4.5K-8K bodies, minus the internal ND filters. This new Canon is not exactly the most modular thing out there. There does seem to be a rolling and global shutter version, don't know much about the specific differences there. The control panel is interesting.

Just to throw this into the pot. Dragon and Helium are more "colorful" and of course there's REDCODE RAW, which is important to me.

Phil, I just had to write about it, you were first ;)

Canon have interesting concept but as always - in a completely inadequate price for the quality and features that it offers. And now Canon tries really hard to be like Alexa.

UK suggested pricing for the camera is as follows (all prices inclusive of tax):
    EOS C700 EF 28,839.99
    EOS C700 PL 28,839.99
    EOS C700 GS PL 30,789.99
Shoulder Style Grip Unit SG-1 2,319.99
OLED Electronic View Finder EVF-V70 5,539.99
    Shoulder Support Unit SU-15 1,869.99
    Remote Operation Unit OU-700 2,769.99
Remote Operation Unit Cable UC-V75 354.99
Remote Operation Unit Cable UC-V1000 444.99

After 5D4, C700 I'm huge disappointed what Canon do. And I'm super proud that I finally bought recently my first RED cam.

It's also modular. You can swap the mount at a Canon service :))

Thanks Phil, didn't you hint a new 70-200 is forthcoming as well?
