Seems like a good time to give you all an update on a few things.

First on IPP2, the new image processing pipeline ( which also includes the new color science for Helium cameras ) that Graeme has been working on feverishly over the last year is almost ready.

IPP2 will work in camera for Helium cameras, and can be applied in post for DSMC cameras.

We expect IPP2 to officially launch at the end of January as we continue to work on the SDK and integration with software vendors that support R3D, which is a bit backwards from our traditional " release it and let everyone (hopefully) catch up " approach that we have done since day one. This has proven to be much better as some of the post houses have already been able to help improve things that we would of normally missed.

Waiting till everyone is in sync is a far better approach for pretty much everyone as we go forward, but we still feel good about releasing a preview build today of both Camera builds and RCX for you all to see a test just a few improvements that have been completed such as the color banding and out of gamut errors in extreme situations on some LED's / stoplights etc. You usually need to dig deep to see this stuff so here is before and after shots to highlight the fixes. The banding before and after might not show up on some lower bit displays.

The new firmware below is what we will begin shipping cameras with today. Again, this is only a small slice of what is to come.. The color stuff isn't fully in there yet.. but it still very much recommended if you are a Helium customer.

Also a bit of a shipping update.

    Weapon 8K S35 and Epic-W

We are blasting through new , trade-in and sensor upgrade Weapon 8K S35 / Epic-W orders, and we finally feel confident that we can finally predict a catch up time with these two cameras.

New orders and Scarlet-W switchers to Weapon Helium should be fulfilled within 1-30 days after we get back from the holidays.

All other Weapon 8K and Epic-W trade ins and upgrades are shipping in parallel and should catch up shortly after the above does.

    Scarlet-W

We are catching up here as well.. not nearly as fast.. but making great progress. Every week we ship more cameras than the last and we are carving out those backorders in record time. The people that have upgraded to Epic-W and Weapon S35 are helping knock that number down as well.

    Raven

Only word that really comes to mind is Clusterfuck. We will ship almost 5x as many Raven's this month as we did last month but the orders keep coming in unfortunately faster than we can push them down... it feels like a never ending battle. To most businesses that would sound like a dream come true, but it really screws up the entire system... and there is not enough profit in Raven to just add a whole new building and staff to facilitate making those at the speed we need to. Just to give you some transparency... we had a few massive Raven orders last month that alone would push things out well into next Christmas , and that is if we stopped making everything else.

So we are arresting new orders of Ravens till we catch up with existing orders.

Sorry Raven peeps... the wait has been and will continue to be painful.

I made a big mistake with Raven... it is just too good for the price and we can't make them fast enough and I have a feeling we never will. I need to take my lashings over that one so feel free to continue to send me hate mail over that one.

Brent suggests opening up the upgrade option from Raven to Scarlet-W again for those that just can't wait.. which we will do starting today... but really... if you are pissed off and sick of waiting please just cancel your order. Nobody will hold it against you, and if you can't wait I would prefer you to do so. I lose sleep over thinking of all you Raven guys and girls continuing to wait.

    Weapon 8K VV

Some good news here... a few of you waiting on VV are going to have a very nice xmas. Yield is improving. We had a good month.

We fixed a few things on the sensor line that hopefully will see more cameras come out at a more rapid pace starting in Feb/March. Still only a handful per month until then.. and of course everything could go wrong... but at least as we sit it is getting better :)

I hope you all have a great holiday and thanks for putting up with the insanity that is being a RED customer.

Let's do it. If you are a RAVEN deposit holder and want to move to SCARLET-W, contact your rep to have that done. You will keep your original RAVEN pre-order date/time stamp. More info....

Jarred, very good news vis a vis the Weapon vV.

Can you offer any suggestion of when you might reach the end of the initial vV purchasers queue based on current sensor outturns?

This rough timeline would be helpful to those like me who may want to forgo the Helium sensor stop-gap option and just wait for the vV sensor availability.
